Verne Hulce

Verne D. Hulce, Ph. D., R. EP T, CNIM, RPSGT, RRT
March 9, 1942 – September 3, 2009

Dr. Hulce was a long-term advisor and contributer to MSET as an honorary board member; speaker; advisor; sponsor; and motivator. His life-long endeavor to overcome obstacles began early in life and he never allowed the deafness acquired as a premature infant to prevent him from his pursuit of excellence.

He will also be remembered for his contributions to research for treatments of neurologic disorders, traumatic brain/spinal cord injury prevention, expertise in electrophysiology, being an avid sailor and aviator instructor, and his contributions as executive administrator to the Field Neurosciences Institute at St. Mary’s of Michigan.

Verne was a long-term supporter of MSET and its mission of providing educational opportunities to electroneurodiagnostic and  polysomnographic technologists. He was a tireless advocate of promoting professional excellence through education and attainment of professional credentials.

You will be sorely missed, Verne…

In memory of Verne, and to honor his passion, MSET has developed the “Verne Hulce Award of Excellence”.  The award will be a grant, to be presented annually to a current MSET member, for the purpose of funding their continuing education. This award may be used to purchase educational material, attend conference/seminar, or to obtain END/PSG credentials in pursuit of professional excellence.

To submit a memoriam or donation to the “Verne Hulce Award of Excellence” fund, please contact MSET President Connie Kubiak; ckubiak@mhc.net or MSET Secretary/Treasurer Mary Harvey; mharvey@stmarysofmichigan.org

A copy of the memoriam as delivered by Connie Kubiak at the September 2009 MSET meeting can be viewed here.

Memorial plans for Verne are scheduled as follows:

Friday Nov. 13, 2009
6:30 p.m.
Old Town Christian Outreach Center
600 Gratiot
Saginaw, Michigan

In lieu of flowers/plants the family has asked donations be made to the Verne Hulce Award of Excellence in care of MSET.  Please contact Connie Kubiak at ckubiak@mhc.net for specifics.
